On the question of membership; It should never in any way demand individuals have to break contact with their previous life or abstain from any particular belief. Nor shall membership demand oaths of arbitrary personal rules such as celibacy from individuals or indeed any physical marks or demands that act contrary to the civil laws or individual rights and freedoms of the nation they reside in.

A universal code of conduct within the institution should be drawn up by the founding members. This constitution should consider respecting the civil liberties of the individual but there should be a system of induction available for the lifetime members of the community.

To be clear, the rights and freedoms of all individuals are to be protected but it is not a certainty that all people can become lifetime members, this is the same as any institution. Although I would hope all transitory visitors are allowed a temporary access.

[present note: this is written directly from the notebook and shows how confused my original thoughts were, this is an incoherent mess of thoughts ranging from institutional structure of moral standards to forms of induction into the community, it then goes on to talk about visiting transient members. Things do improve in later texts as the focus improves.]

Teachers training teachers creates an exponential growth of educators 3, 9, 27, 71. With each teacher teaching 3 students, who in turn teach more. Therefore, students who have mastered a subject or even a topic within a graded subject at any level will be expected to assist in classrooms aiding others to understand. The primary goal of this is to have everyone as a teacher and a student.

To realise humility and build appreciation of other members it is vital to keep everyone in this cycle of education and learning.

It is a certainty that we all have our strengths and a consistent churn of teaching and learning will avoid hubris, foster respect of other disciplines and improve empathy and acceptance.

Also it’s a truth that no subject exists in a vacuum. All sciences in some degree overlap as do all artistic skills and creative abilities.

Over specialization breeds in weakness and a holistic approach can greatly improve retention of data.

In an ideal system all people should work on what they love and share the work that they hate, however this realistically doesn’t occur in any sufficiently complex society or community. It is necessary for people to perform chores, or work in necessary but unpleasant situations for the good of the community. The problems in larger groups is these chores can become the sole responsibility of a single group creating tension. In respect of this, the community must have some framework in place so that general tasks can be consistently spread to all the members.

Regular routines such as exercise, meditation, study, training, waking and sleeping times along with a clear rotation of chores such as cleaning, cooking and laundry should be shared equally amongst all members and all levels of hierarchy within the community. To build equality and also a sense of communal connectivity on a daily basis.

Everyone has the capability to be a teacher and we are all born as creative artists, despite what we may think. The community should foster all the qualities of their members, with every long-standing member being qualified (with a PGCE) and prepared to teach a variety of topics. Also, all members should nurture their own unique talents in creativity, divergent thinking, brainstorming and problem solving, which should all be worked on as seriously as logic, mathematics and science.

The community should create routines and regular activities designed to help the members act and improve themselves in the most optimal way possible. Autonomy, mastery and purpose should be provided in tasks performed to help motivation. Similarly mind, body and thought should be exercised for each individuals well-being.

One should constantly and consistently strive to improve themselves and their mind. They should focus their efforts on their knowledge, skills and their chosen vocation in the community.

One should always maintain a good physical condition. Firstly, this is so that they can act as they must when the situation demands it, secondly, there is the matter of a longer lifespan to do the things we love doing and then, finally, there is an abundance of evidence that regular exercise greatly improves mental acuity, mood and cognition.

2 – reflect your beliefs

One should reflect their beliefs in the actions they perform. Otherwise they do not really either; a) have conviction in their beliefs, or, b) they are deluding themselves.

To create a community you need a structure and converging personal beliefs or values. When this is not the case there will be division and conflict. All humans have similar needs and desires in life [Maslow’s pyramid of needs] although peoples expectations in how to realize these objectives differ
